Here is the equipment we use for our task of Paranormal Investigation, It is important to remember that we do not use all the equipment we have every time we go out. Just like an auto mechanic we have some tools that are specialized and are only used when the need presents it self.
One thing about our equipment is that ALL of our equipment is STAND ALONE in other words we do not have to have access to electricity to run our equipment it all has its own power supply.

Miscellaneous Equipment
An audiovox tape recorder with an amplified external MIC. Don carries this for interviews as well as capturing EVP. |
Another of Don's Carry with recorders an Olympus digital used primarily for catching EVP. |
EMF meters are an important tool in the ghost hunters tool box here is the Cell Sensor that is carried just remember to read the directions. False readings are caused if it is not used properly. |
Here is a DR Gauss Meter that Don Carries along with his cell sensor. The Gauss meter is used to back up the readings that the cell sensor picks up. |
Of course we carry flashlights I prefer the LED flashlight seen on the left but the small mag light works in a pinch. |
On the rare cases that more light is needed here it is. A 3 million candle power dual spot with a regular light option. (This light is also very useful to shine up into the sky and see what kind of dust or particles are in the air to cause false photo's) |
Proving invaluable for safety and convenience is the FRS 2 way radios when out in the field all team members carry their radios. |
Thermo non contact thermometer lets us tell temperature changes within an area and trace the changes to their origin when possible. |
Power For The Equipment |
|
With active areas being very draining on dry cell batteries we have designed a harness to allow the cameras to run off these wet cell batteries |
Here is the Power Station will run anything from 12v down to 2.4v has all common connectors and built in charging system. |
Carrying the batteries or the power pack can really wear down an old man like Don so he found a Zip Start unit that works very well powering up the Sony video camera |
And of course we carry all the extra batteries AA, AAA & 9v they are carried in pockets of the vest. What vest you ask look below. |
Here it is our ghost hunting vest with as many pockets as we would ever need. Yes it is a fishing vest but hey we are fishing for ghosts after all. |
Here is the back view of the vest the white thing up by the collar is an external MIC used for the digital recorder we have found by carrying it on the back it reduces background noise at least 30% |
|
We do live in the dessert and it is important to be able to hydrate yourself when out in the field for that we have found that the hydra PAC bladder fits well in the back pocket of our vest and if frozen before we go out provides cold water for us as well as the dogs. |

The Camera's |
|
Dons camera a Kodak 215 digital compact easy to throw into a pocket however picture quality is poor for any shots of distance. Good for web page shooting though. |
Here is Susies Camera an HP 315 with a slave flash with hot shoe in use the 2 extra flashes effectively give a 20 foot flash range. |
Yes it is a quick cam web cam it interfaces with the Spook Box using instructions from http://homepage.ntlworld.com/geoff.johnson2/IR/ I was able to convert the quick cam to an IR camera that works relatively well. Using Home watcher software from http://www.snapfiles.com/get/hwatcher.html Makes the web cam motion sensitive with an audio alarm. |
The scary cam actually a 90 degree vision security camera with IR capability interfaces with the spook box or can be monitored on its own. The tripod or stand for both the scary cam and the quick cam are old music stands that have been fabricated to fit the cameras. Easy to fold and store.
|
My first small cam corder bought in 1996 a GE handy cam with 0 Lux capability still working but looks rough showing how many times it has been in the field. This camera is used stand alone of interfaces with the spook box. |
Don's Sony night shot. This camera is outfitted with a wide angle lens giving it a 80 degree field of vision along with an external IR light which give a range of around 15 usable feet. This camera is also stand alone or will interface with the Ghost box. |
